Dr. Chris Baba

Dr. Baba was born and raised in
Medicine Hat, where he graduated from McCoy High
School. He worked in the automotive, oil,
construction, and trucking fields during his
high school years. In addition, Chris
served in the Army Reserves for over 5 years and
was the soldier chosen to represent his regiment
in Europe for the 60th anniversary of the
Liberation of Holland.
After 2 years of study at Medicine Hat College, Chris entered the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees. He was selected to attend a summer exchange program in Germany, focusing on prosthetic dentistry. Dr. Baba served as president of his class for his time at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Upon graduation, Chris was presented with Oral Surgery, Fixed Prosthetics (crowns, bridges, veneers, etc.), and Operative Dentistry (fillings etc.). Chris's interests are many and varied. He is particularly interested in cooking, marksmanship, trap shooting, hiking and anything to do with the outdoors. While not at the clinic or spending time with his wife and dog, he volunteers with the YMCA, and Kinsmen Club. He's spent years on the YMCA board, where he serves as president and held many positions in the Kinsmen Club, where his focus has been with the Home Lotto project. Community service is an important part of his life, and Medicine Hat has always been home. |

Dr. Trevor Brooks is a Fellow of the
Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of
Canada and a board-certified Plastic Surgeon
serving Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Known for his surgical talent, clear
communication skills, and welcoming personality,
Dr. Brooks has become one of Medicine Hat's
leading cosmetic surgeons.
Dr. Brooks is originally from Invermere, BC, and once the opportunity to move closer to home came up, he moved his practice to Medicine Hat. Before moving to Alberta, Dr. Brooks worked in Ottawa at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and The Ottawa Clinic. Dr. Brooks completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Manitoba and his medical school training was completed at the University of Alberta. Dr. Brooks received a Master of Science in Biomedical Technology to compliment his Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology at the University of Calgary. Dr. Brooks has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented at both national and international conferences. Dr. Brooks also offers more cosmetic procedures like facial filler, hand filler, and Botox at Essentials Medi Spa located in Medicine Hat, AB. |

General ManagerLorelei
Lorelei Busch is the General Manager
of the Southland Surgical Centre. Lorelei
has over 30 years of experience in various
sectors of the medical field; 19 of which were
in a Pharmacy Assistant
role.
As General Manager, Lorelei is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre. Her dedication to detail and attention to accuracy creates an efficient environment for all involved with the Centre. She strives to have a cohesive health care team to ensure the patient receives superior care while at the Centre. Her dedication to the Centre is also mirrored in her dedication to the patient experience. Outside of work, Lorelei enjoys volunteering for various sporting events as well as the Medicine Hat Musical Theatre. She also enjoys the outdoors as well as spending time with family. |
Supervisor of MDRDAmy
Amy Makepeace is the Supervisor of
the MDRD area at Southland Surgical
Centre. Amy attained her CRCST
certification February 2016, through Purdue
University Distance Learning. Her skill set was
developed at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital,
giving her exposure to diverse surgical
instrumentation. Amy's attention
to detail, commitment to patient
safety, and providing patients with clean and
sterilized medical instrumentation is one of her
biggest priorities.
Amy was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She and her husband, Scott, have 3 children, Emily, Alyssa and Sophia, and a grandson named Maddox. Amy loves tinkering in her yard and flower garden, fine detailing her Mini Cooper and VW beetle convertible vehicles, home reno’s, decorating and using her children and grandson as photography models. |
